
The Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari.
In a heartfelt message shared shortly after the news broke on Sunday, Okonjo-Iweala revealed that she was unaware of the severity of President Buhari”s health condition until moments before his death was announced.
“Unbelievable! I did not know just how ill HE President was and minutes after sending my get well wishes I have just learned that he passed wrote”, she wrote.
The WTO chief added, “I am so very sad! May the soul of HE Muhammadu Buhari rest in perfect peace. My deepest condolences to the entire Buhari’s family and his close aides and associates”
President Muhammadu Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s civilian leader from 2015-2023 and previously as a military head of state in the 1980s, passed a way at the age of 82.
Buhari died in London Clinic on Sunday July 13 after he took ill recently.
His death was announced by his former Senior Special Assistant on media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu via a post on X.
