The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused the opposition of deliberately fueling religious violence in Nigeria, describing it as a Christian genocide.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV today, Wike said, “In 2015, under Jonathan, people capitalized on these kinds of things to take over power. It’s very obvious that the opposition is fueling this Christian genocide in Nigeria.”
The FCT Minister did not provide specific details on the individuals or groups involved but warned that the current political climate risks elevating tensions along religious lines.
Wike’s comments follow rising concerns over security challenges and attacks targeting religious communities in parts of the country.
The minister called for urgent attention from security agencies and political leaders to address the threats and protect vulnerable communities.
