The recent alleged attack on Chiduebube Okeoma of the Punch Newspapers in Owerri have caused reactions cautioning the young man to do investigative and fair journalism than “cartel job”

The publisher of Whitepaper NEWSPAPER and the Media adviser to SENATOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA, Sam Onwuemedo cautioned practitioners to desist from such odd practice and respect the ethics of the work.

Onwuemedo however condemed the false information making the rounds that OKEOMA was molested by security operatives in the government house and told the punch CORRESPONDENT that
JOURNALISM job is not a cartel venture or business or enterprise.

He however stated that Media Establishments crave for exclusive stories and that is where the Punch Newspaper takes precedence over others.

He futher explained that Media Establishments fancy or like their reporters, always coming with exclusive stories but are akin to verifiable syories.

“Hence, one reporter can be at an event , without others, depending on his or her networks or channels of Communication.

Onwuemedo however hinted that if Chiduebube Okeoma of the Punch Newspapers, was the only reporter at the protest of the old women, most of them believed to be widows , at the Government House , he should be seen as a crack or hovering Reporter.

He said that’s the kind of reporters media houses go for. Not lazy reporters.

Onwuemedo frowned at the standard of journalism has fallen, otherwise, correspondents of other media establishments who didn’t report the protest or the beating and arrest of Okeoma, would have , by now , been queried.

He also said that trying to discredit Okeoma’s account or trying to blackmail him by government handlers would backfire or be counterproductive , if not stopped.

While making his point known, Onwuemedo said that Punch Newspaper does not play with the security of its reporters.

He futher stated that the government should have continued with the said apology. But their method of trying to go for a kill, would attract the attention of the world media or press.

In his words, “By that time , they would discover that it goes beyond few WhatsApp platforms and Facebook.

On his conclusion, the media Adviser maintained that Wisdom is the watchword and Experience is also key in Journalism practice.
