A driver narrowly escaped death when an uprooted tree fell on an Acura Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, this morning along Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar
The driver of the SUV immediately rushed out with no injury sustained but the car badly damaged.
Eye witnesses who rushed to the scene have poured blames on the state ministry of environment and the city’s development agency,(CUDA).
Some of the trees reported to have uprooted in recent times were planted over 15 years ago during the administration of the former Governor, Mr Donald Duke who served between 1999 to 2007.
Residents are now calling on the government and relevant authorities to expedice actions to curb the indiscrimate havok been experienced as a result of tree falling especially in the metropolis.
