Nigerian direct-to-home (DTH) platform TSTV, which has had a troubled first year of operation, has relaunched using newly acquired Nigcomsat transponder space.

The company has collaborated with Intertel, Federal Ministry of Communications and Nigcomsat to migrate to Nigeria’s first communications satellite and offer all 45 channels in full high definition (HD).

TSTV is currently offering the entire service unencrypted for free for a month, with its premium channels available to all Nigerians with a satellite dish, directed at 42.5 degrees East.

The service, which launched as a domestic rival to MultiChoice’s DStv and StarTimes in October 2017 previously broadcast from ABS 3A.

“From the date we announced TSTV, it has been fight all the way. I doubt if a week passed without us quenching one fire or the other, said Bright Echefu, managing director and CEO, TSTV Africa in an open letter . He added that now TSTV can “offer Nigerians the true meaning of video entertainment”.

TSTV offers local, regional and international channels across all genres, including Grande Series Asia, Grande Sports 5 and Highlights, Grande Bolly, Fight Box HD, Fast & Fun Box HD, Africa Independent Television, Africa Movies, RT Doc, RT, and Nigeria’s Liberty TV.

Once the free promotion ends, the DTH service will offer viewers a novel pay-as-you-view (PAYV) subscription and pause subscription, as well as a complimentary Internet service.
