Gombe Communal Clash

Pandemonium broke out at Agodi-Gate area of Ibadan on Wednesday after some immigration officers allegedly harassed a local government chairman and some of his aides.

9News Nigeria gathered that,some youths of the area were protesting the killing of a teenage girl,in the process a major street was blocked.

They blocked Mokola Road, parliament Road and Secretariat Road for some hours.

Sources who confided in 9News ,said the Hon. Chairman of Ibadan North Local government area,Hon.Shuaib Yusuf Oladayo,also came and was trying to calm the protesting youths.

One thing lead to another and the immigration officers allegedly begin manhandling, slapping Mr. Shuaib Yusuf Oladayo.

 It is also reported that,the headquarters of Oyo State command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is close to the Ibadan North local government Secretariat.

This then resulted into sporadic gunshots which rented the air for some minutes.

A source also revealed that some of the immigration officers were injured during the clash.

 NIS spokesman in Oyo, Mr. Olufemi Adetunji, when contacted, noted that he cannot speak on the matter now.
