Kanayo Onyemaechi Others Emerged As Principal Officers Of Imo 10th Assembly

Imo State House of Assembly Tuesday 28th June 2023, elected the remaining Officers of the 10th Assembly in the process of first plenary presided over by the Honourable Speaker Chike Olemgbe .

Speaker Olemgbe announced names of Honourable Members for the remaining Principal positions of the House, as communicated in the letters by their political parties after legislative protocols was observed by Honourable members.

Recall that Hon. Chike Olemgbe and RT. Hon Chyna Iwuanyanwu are the sitting Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th House respectively.

The names of the Honourable Members for the remaining Principal positions of the House, as communicated in the letters by their political parties was made open as declared by the speaker.

1. Majority Leader —- Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi (APC), Member Representing Owerri-west State Constituency.
2. Deputy Majority Leader —- Hon Chief Samuel Chidiebere Ogbunikpa (APC), Member Representing Okigwe State Constituency.
3. Chief Whip —- Hon Chigozie Nwaneri (APC), Member Representing Oru-east State Constituency.
4. Deputy Whip —- Hon Chief Eddy Obinna (APC), Member Representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency.
5. Minority Leader —- Hon Modestus Osakwe (PDP), Member Representing Isu State Constituency.
6. Deputy Minority Leader —- Hon Vitalis Ndubuisi Azodo (ACCORD), Member Representing Ideato South State Constituency.

However, there two motions were moved, seconded and adopted by the House which are:

Firstly, Motion urging the House to adopt the 2019 Rules of Imo State House Of Assembly (As Amended) for the House business. The Motion entitled “MOTION ON ADOPTION OF RULES OF IMO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY” sort the continuation of the 2019 House Rules (As Amended) in the 10th House.

The second motion entitled “MOTION TO COMMEND THE STATE GOVERNOR FOR REINTRODUCTION OF THE MONTHLY ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE was seconded and also adopted by the 10th House.

In furtherance, Majority Leader, Rt. Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi while reacting to the second motion described it as wonderful. While maintaining that, Cleanliness is very important in every ones life and the society at large, Onyemaechi further maintained that cleanliness is what human beings can do for themselves to live healthy.

Kanayo Onyemaechi however thanked Governor Hope Uzodinma for bringing back this exercise while pleading on every Imolite to take sanation exercise as most priority to keep the environment safe.

At a closure, the people of Owerri West in their numbers trooped out to eat and dine together while celebrating Kanayo Onyemaechi’s re-election as a second legislator after Onyirimba to bag a back-to-back Majority Leader (of the 10th House) in IMHA.

While thanking Ndi Owerri West, Kanayo Onyemaechi at a reception party, promised his Constituents of a desirable representation and service delivery.

He also thanked the All Progressives Congress APC party members, state EXCOs and Governor Hope Uzodinma for giving him and his fellow Honourable colleagues the opportunity to Serve the state.
