On Wednesday March 11, 2026, the Kano State Government presented charges before the Magistrate Court at Noman’s Land against three youths accused of murdering a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi.
The state’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir, told the court that investigation have been prepared against the suspects to proceed to court.

He added that one of the accused has been cleared of murder charges but is still being persecuted for involvement in another case, concerning the alleged rape of a young girl who later died following accusations that her eyes were gouged out.
The accused Umar Auwal, Yakubu Dayyabau, Isyaku Yakubu, and Umar Ali were arraigned for conspiracy and participation in the murders in Dorayi.
The charges indicate that the youths allegedly conspired to kill multiple people across different neighbourhoods, with claims that witchcraft was involved.
Victims include a woman and her six children in Dorayi, another woman and her friend in Tudun Yola, and a young girl who was allegedly raped before killed.
Government lawyers told the court that all charges have been formalized, and the case will continue at High Court for further proceedings.
