An investigative Report Unveils Criminal Network Behind Baseless Petitions Against Anambra’s CSP Ifeanyi Iburu RRS Commander and the Resurgence of Land Grabbers in the State
An investigation has uncovered the dangerous operations of a criminal institution of land grabbers in Anambra State, notorious for their violent tactics and their efforts to undermine the integrity of law enforcement. In recent times, a series of baseless petitions have emerged against CSP Ifeanyi Iburu, the distinguished commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Okwuzu, Anambra State. These petitions, upon further investigation, have been found to originate from the very criminal group responsible for a surge in killings, kidnappings, and land-grabbing activities in the state.
The report highlights that the activities of this criminal institution have been growing unchecked, involving high-profile individuals such as Ozo Jeff, who leads the land grabbers’ network. Ozo Jeff is reportedly backed by dangerous associates, including the notorious kidnapper and killer, Nwokoye, known to be his second-in-command. These individuals are widely known in Anambra State for their open use of AK-47s and other weapons to further their selfish goals of acquiring land and wealth through intimidation and violence.
Historically, the land grabbers have targeted land owned by citizens living abroad, often kidnapping or killing those who attempt to protect their property. They are well-versed in using terror tactics, disguising their actions as those of “unknown gunmen,” to deflect attention from their activities. It is believed that this same group was behind the hiring of naked women to stage a protest against the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Awka, after the officer began investigating their criminal activities.
Among the land grabbers’ notorious history is the tenure of former Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Adoye Aderemi (Retd.), who publicly wrote against these criminals, specifically identifying Ozo Jeff and his group as key players in land disputes and violent attacks. During his time in office, CP Aderemi’s actions led to significant efforts to curb the land-grabbing menace, but the issue has persisted, with the group continuing to operate brazenly in the state.
CSP Ifeanyi Iburu, the current commander of RRS Okwuzu, has become a target of these land grabbers. Since assuming his role, Iburu has prosecuted over 300 criminals and taken a firm stand against their attempts to turn Anambra into a haven for criminal activities. He has been instrumental in investigating the strategies employed by these criminals, such as using kidnappings and killings disguised as attacks by unknown gunmen. His unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and properties of innocent citizens has drawn the ire of the land grabbers, who have resorted to filing false petitions in an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
The investigation reveals that this criminal network, in a bid to reassert control, has also been behind numerous attacks on law enforcement in Anambra State. These attacks are believed to be retaliatory actions aimed at intimidating police officers who refuse to back down in their pursuit of justice. The Federal Government is aware of these growing threats and is urged to take immediate action by investigating the recent killings of police officers and individuals in the state. The investigation into these events has revealed clear links between the criminal institution of land grabbers and the violence that has plagued the region.
With these alarming findings, it is crucial for the Federal Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, to work in collaboration to root out these land grabbers. Just as the notorious Benue State criminal, GANA, was declared wanted and eventually neutralized, similar decisive actions must be taken against Ozo Jeff and his associates. These individuals, who have been arrested on multiple occasions but continue to perpetuate their crimes, must be brought to justice to restore peace and order in Anambra State.
The effort of the RRS Okwuzu, particularly under the leadership of CSP Ifeanyi Iburu, to protect the lives and properties of citizens should be commended and supported. Iburu’s resolve to confront this growing criminal institution head-on is a testament to his dedication as a police officer. The public must recognize that the recent wave of baseless petitions against him is nothing more than a strategy by these dangerous land grabbers to weaken the resolve of the police force and further their criminal agenda.
The Federal Government must act swiftly and decisively to dismantle this criminal institution before it further entrenches itself in Anambra State. Security in the region depends on the ability of law enforcement to continue its fight without fear of retaliation or malicious petitions from powerful criminal networks.
