On Tuesday 11th July, 2023, in the bustling city of Abuja, the Federal capital territory of Nigeria, a mix of Law enforcement officials from the Nigerian Police force and the law enforcement Unit of the FCT High Court storm the premises of the NNPC Gas Marketing Limited over a bridge of contractual agreement between NGML and a company (name withheld), where the latter had completed a certain contract agreement, now expecting the fulfilment of payment.
On arrival at the NGML premises, the procedure of the court order was extended to the security guard who mounted the gate, seeking permission to see the management of NGML. However, there was a resistance by the guard to admitting the officials into the premises, one of the police on guard requested for the warrant to carry out the execution.
Having been duly shown the court’s documents, the men on guard blatantly refused to let in the enforcement officials’ into the premises. And until much argument and pressure was established between the concerned parties, the gate was opened for few of the officials leaving behind the gate bars, the media crew and few other policemen on duty.
Upon evidence of the court order, the officials of the NGML lead by the legal adviser as well as the secretary of NGML, who were alerted on the development, proved their stance of total refusal to allow the law enforcement officials to carry out their statutory assignment
Recorded, were frustrations in the faces of the law enforcement officials occasioned by the noncompliance by the management of NGML inside the premises. As the drama continues to take toll, we could barely capture much of what transpired inside, hence we were not availed entry.
Our crew received credible information that NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd became adamant over their failure to fulfill their contractual obligation of payment to a company whose name is withheld here, despite the completion of the said contract.
Meanwhile, in spite of the gentleman approach to address the issue, the team of law enforcement officials were subjected to a huge amount of dishonor by the company officials who could not avail the team with appropriate measures to ease the enforcement.
Our primary mandate here is to provide coverage on this matter and ensure justice is served. As at the time of this report, effort to reach both parties for interviews was to no avail.
In the end, the session which lasted for over an hour ended in a stalemate with the enforcement vehemently resisted by the officials of the NGML.
Stay in touch as we reveal all the parties involved in our subsequent update.
