The All Progressives Congress said having gone through the letters sent to the government by its erstwhile chief scribe and a second-place governorship aspirant in the 2018 APC guber primaries in the state, they “thought that the Governor was going to pick the corrections mildly put together by Prof. Odoh for the advancement of ideals of democracy, good governance and service to the people of the state, than resorting to witch hunting the writer in several obscene ways.”

The party further eulogized Prof. Benard Odoh ” for the patriotic move he has made towards entrenching accountability by submitting himself for probe by the EFCC over the allegation of graft levelled against him by the Umahi Government over the disbursement of N2billion CBN Agric Loan in 2016.”

The statement reads In parts,

“We in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State chapter have observed with great shock the distasteful and unpatriotic reactions trailing the observations by the erstwhile Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Professor Benard Odoh with regard to the administration of Gov David Umahi of Ebonyi State. The responses coming from the government of Ebonyi State are a conspicuous testament to the fact that the administration of Gov Umahi is no less anti people and prosperity of democracy as Prof. Odoh rightly pointed out in one of the letters he addressed to the state government.”

“Having gone through the letters sent to the government by its erstwhile chief scribe and a second-place governorship aspirant in the 2018 APC guber primaries in the state, we thought that the Governor was going to pick the corrections mildly put together by Prof. Odoh for the advancement of ideals of democracy, good governance and service to the people of the state, than resorting to witch hunting the writer in several obscene ways. It’s not any way in doubt that the Ebonyi State Government of this time is bedeviled by avoidable high debt profile and that, most of the projects on which the funds were poured have no direct socioeconomic bearing on the lives of the citizens and the state. It’s not also in doubt that the government is aloof to criticism which is widely believed to be the wheel on which good governance drives.”

“Instead of thanking Professor Odoh for finding time to give him germane advice on how to achieve result oriented leadership, we are surprised that the government has continued to condescend as low as coming up with trumped up allegations of graft and sponsoring traditional rulers and other forces to protest against the man and his message and calling him all manner of unprintable names.”

“We want to use this opportunity also to eulogize Prof. Benard Odoh for the patriotic move he has made towards entrenching accountability by submitting himself for probe by the EFCC over the allegation of graft levelled against him by the Umahi Government over the disbursement of N2billion CBN Agric Loan in 2016. It would only take a man of unguilty conscience to have made that move. And instead of hauling verbose and scribal pebbles at Prof. Odoh, we are urging the government and those whose names have been mentioned in the saga to submit themselves to the EFCC for proper investigations.”
