
Senator Ireti Kingibe has said the area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will serve as a referendum on performance of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during an interview on Political Paradigm, a programme on Channels Television, the Senator who represents the FCT said many residents of Abuja are dissatisfied with the Minister’s leadership and feel disconnected from his style of governance.
Senator Kingibe claimed that Nyesom Wike is not meeting the needs of the people and does not comprehend them.
According to her, the elections will demonstrate the unity of FCT indigenous people in their animosity towards Wike.
“Local government elections is coming early next year. That is when the people of the FCT show Ministers “We like you or we do not like you” The local government elections is going to tell whether Wike controls FCT because nobody does. It is only people who have lived here for a long time know that people of FCT have their independent mind and it is the people who have lived here would know that the one thing that unites us is the FCT is our resentment of the Minister. It is about treating us with disregard and contempt”, Senator Kingibe said
