🟢Recall that FG had earlier warned state Governors to conduct LG elections otherwise any state that disobey the order will surely stand the chance of loosing LGA Federal allocation disbursement.

The Imo Independent Electoral Commission INEC has reeled out plans to hold Local Government Election in Imo State Nigeria September 2024.

Our correspondent in Owerri reports that Chief Charles Ejiogu, chairman Imo State Independent Electoral Commission made this declaration at briefing of Journalists in Owerri on Friday 24-05-2024.

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission therefore wishes to inform all registered political parties and the general public that local government elections in the state will be held on Saturday, September 21st, 2024.

Election guidelines and other details can be collected from the Headquarters of Imo State Electoral Commission (ISEC) in Owerri as directed.

With this development, all registered political parties and their aspirants are expected to visit INEC office in Owerri to get first hand information as it concerns the planned LG election.

Recall that LG election comprises of both the Local Government officials and ward counsellors.

It is expected of Imo INEC and ISEC to harmonize election process and put every arsenal ready to give Imolites the best free and fair LG election.

The LG election has since remain a forgotten issue in the state since previous governments failed to conduct the election. Until now that His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma have decided to give it a nod.

However, it is on the mandate of the Federal Government who’s instruction has remained sacrosanct that governors are charged to conduct the LG election.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given all the state Governors deadline order to conduct LG election or stand the chance to loose Federal allocation made for Local Government disbursement in Nigeria.
