OWERRI—Barring any unforeseen circumstance, Liberian President, Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, will arrive Owerri today for a two-day visit.
According to a government statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr. Samuel Onwuemeodo, “the Liberian President is principally coming to meet students of Rochas Foundation College of Africa, particularly , students from Liberia, whose parents died of Ebola.”
Onwuemeodo also disclosed that “she will equally be expected to key into Vision 2030 of Rochas Foundation College targeted at taking one million children of Africa out of the streets and giving them education.”
The CPS also revealed that Sirleaf will be decorated with a chieftaincy title by the chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Sam Ohiri.
“The Liberian President will deliver a lecture at Imo International Convention Centre and the topic will be ‘Women in Politics’. The lecture is structured to encourage women in the state to develop interest in leadership, especially when it is recalled that Mrs. Sirleaf is the first female President in Africa,” he CPS said.
