Former Juventus striker Dani Osvaldo has said that Lionel Messi is a victim of his own success at Barcelona and has ‘no life’.
Osvaldo, born in Argentina, ended his playing career to become a musician and has denied to be like Lionel Messi.
Messi, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in football and experiences the star status which goes along with it.
The 31-year-old would be mobbed by fans if he was to walk the streets of Barcelona near the La Liga giants’ Camp Nou home.
Messi is rarely seen in public, deciding instead to keep his life very private.
Osvaldo, who had also played for Southampton in the Premier League, has revealed how he couldn’t live like the Barcelona legend.
“Would I like to be like Messi? No,” Osvaldo told Spanish newspaper Marca.
“I’d like to play like him, but he has no life. It’s as if he lives in a golden prison.
“He couldn’t go somewhere and quietly drink something. Maybe he doesn’t care about it, but I do.
“I imagine him buying the biggest TV in the world, but then he’s never in his living room to use it.”
“What do you want a Ferrari for if you go from your home to training, which is 15 minutes away?” Osvaldo added.
“I never cared about the money, but I also spent it on stupid things. And now too, but cheaper.”
Meanwhile, Messi has enjoyed a strong start to the season as Barcelona have pick up five wins from six in all competitions.
