1. On June 26,2021
1. Wike who was then Governor of Rivers State disobeyed Court judgement for immediate payment of the salaries of teachers.
The salaries of the affected teachers had been stopped by the state government for five years, leading to litigation and protests over the matter.
2. On November 8,2023
A National Industrial Court in Abuja began a contempt proceedings against FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and others over alleged disregard of series of court orders.
The court had affirmed Faruk Abubakar as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Abuja Markets Management Limited, AMML.
The development was sequel to the decision of the minister to include AMML’s MD in the list of heads of agencies dissolved on Sept. 27.
Mr Wike had, on Sept. 27 in a statement, relieved the heads of 21 parastatals, agencies and government companies of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, of their appointments with immediate effect, including AMML.
The contempt charge, filed by Mr Abubakar also joined FCTA, AMML and Abuja Investments Company Limited, AICL, as 2nd to 4th defendants respectively, including the former acting MD of AMML, Engr. Yakubu Abbas.
3. On October 2023
Despite court ruling, FCT Wike ordered demolition of multi-billion Naira property next to Gbajabimila’s residence.
The property, which is owned by an entity known as Shrodder Nigeria Limited, is located at the Cadastral Zone of the Maitama District.
Controversy over the demolition has, however, been brought to the attention of President Bola Tinubu.
4. On August 16 2016
Wike who was Governor of Rivers State asked members of his party to ignore Justice Abang’s Order that PDP’s Convention will still hold.
According to Wike, the party was not violating any court judgement with the resolve to go ahead with the convention.
He dismissed the Interlocutory order by Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High court in Abuja that the convention be postponed till September 7.
