A tragic incident unfolded in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, as jealous husband reportedly stabbed the Bishop of Rapture Empowerment International Church, Dr Shina Olaribighe, to death over suspicious of an affair with his estranged wife.
According to reports, the Bishop was killed while visiting the woman at her apartment located in BCGA area, Olorunda Local Government Area, Osogbo, Osun State.
The suspect whose identity has yet to be disclosed, allegedly attacked the bishop after suspecting him of being romantically involved with his wife.
It was gathered that the deceased bishop had been acting as a mediator between the couple, who had been having marital issues and were living separately, though not legally divorced.
Eyewitness and a church member who claimed anonymity revealed that the late bishop was found lifeless on the wife’s bed after the attack.
However, It remains unclear whether the bishop was indeed romantically involved with the woman or simply trying to reconcile the estranged couple as reported.
The Osun Police Command has confirmed the arrest of both the husband and the wife in connection with the incident.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in a statement said: “They are couple but not leaving together. They are not separated by law yet. The bishop, now deceased, used to intervene in their marital conflicts. We were informed that the bishop was at the wife’s residence when the estranged husband arrived and fatally stabbed him”.
Further Investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing, as authorities are working tirelessly to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
