Nigeria’s Marine Minister Adegboyega Oyetola, has jetted off to New York, USA, to attend the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations. The event is expected to feature world leaders from United Nations, African Union, and EU.
The Minister is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of State on Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation at the summit which is already going on at time os this report 9News Nigeria reports.
The summit, which is at the instance of the US government, will focus on partnership for Atlantic Cooperation.
The United States, through the initiative for Atlantic Cooperation, is working to create a multilateral forum to bring together coastal Atlantic States around a set of shared principles and advance shared interests across the entire Atlantic area.
At his departure, Oyetola told the press that the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy under his leadership will pursue the implementation of the SDG 14 which is essentially about the sustainable utilisation, management and preservation of ocean resources for economic development and improved livelihood.
He added that with his eyes on SDG -14, the 5 Ps of sustainable development will be achieved under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
The Marine and Blue Economy Minister Oyetola, while in New York is expected to meet with the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, on today Monday, on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Recall that this is the 4th Trilateral meeting between African Union, EU_Commission, and UN which is already going today.
Discussions will be focused on collaborative strategies for addressing global and common challenges including climate, peace and security, advancing SDGs and Agenda 2063.
