The Nigerian music star, Inetimi Alfred Odom better known by his stage name Timaya, has opened up about his views on marriage and fatherhood, stating that he has never been inclined towards marriage despite having three children with different woman.
The 44-year-old Singer explained his stance in a recent interview, saying, “I have never been a marriage kind of guy right from time”
Timaya known for combining Nigerian pop with elements of dancehall, hip-hop and soca, as well as Afro-Caribbean, Dancehall music, further elaborated on why he remain single, noting;
“If I marry today and the girl disturbs me, I can get out of the marriage. In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress”
While he avoids the complications of marriage, Timaya remains committed to his role as a father. Speaking about parenthood, he share, “Being a father is very good but stressful because you love them too much”
Timaya’s perspective underscores his preference for challenges of fatherhood over the potential strains of marital life.
For him, being a loving and dedicated father outweighs the traditional expectations of settling down as a husband.
Timaya who is also the Founder of DM (Dem Mama) Records, has also earned several awards, Two AFRIMMA Awards, one Nigerian music Award and one NEA Award.
