
In a decisive move to restructure his administration, Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri, has terminated the appointment of 27 political aides, effective May 1, 2025.
According to an official circular dated April 24, 2025, but publicly implemented on May 1, 2025, the directive, was issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and signed by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo.
Those affected include notable figures such as Senior Special Assistant Benjamin Marabhim, and Special Assistants Saturday Ederi, Oba Itaziba, Puenlmoni Marcus IKisikpo, Sampson Agundu, and Kotor Olali.
Also relieved of their duties were key members of the New Media Team and the Grassroots Mobilization Committee, including Afebo James Kodam, Kingsley Ezen, and Joy Sunday.
The sacked appointees have been instructed to immediately vacate their position, relinquish all government properties in their possession, and cease access to official privileges.
According to reports, the affected were reportedly dismissed after attending the inauguration of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the grassroots-based political movement, The NEW Associates and participating in a mega rally held in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
The development comes amid growing public demand for increased accountability and performance-driven leadership I Bayelsa State.
