The Imo State Governor , His Excellency Hope Uzodinma CON has called on Imolites to understanding the pressing economic situation ravaging the State and stay calm.
Governor Uzodinma also hinted that the economic challenges bedevilling Nigeria are complex and cannot be resolved within a year.
He noted that however, with collective support and understanding, Imo people can work towards sustainable solutions, navigate these trying times and emerge stronger as a nation.
Other pressing challenges were discussed among which are, security situation, LG elections and distribution of FG disbursed rice to be sold at N40,000.00 per fifty kg bag in Imo.
Our correspondent reports that the summit was strictly on invitation and only stakeholders were allowed to attend the meeting in Owerri, the state capital Wednesday.
Uzodinma promised to continue providing security for the state while charging security agencies and the citizens to be vigilant and report any suspected moves for immediate action.
The local government Election was said to hold as scheduled by INEC while assuring every contestant of a level play ground. He charged the INEC commissioner to give the state the best free and fair election.
The highlight of his engagement with various stakeholders in Imo was his urging of the people to reconsider participating in the planned nationwide protest.
I emphasized the potential dangers of hijacked protests, which could lead to unintended consequences, despite the legitimate right to peaceful protest.
“My message was clear: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply attuned to the plights of our citizens. He has initiated numerous interventions and programs aimed at providing immediate relief while laying the groundwork for long-term solutions.
“These efforts demonstrate the Government’s commitment to addressing our concerns and improving our collective well-being.
The Governor urged all stakeholders to convey this message of patience and trust in the government’s plans to their constituents. The summit recorded a huge success and featured Imo elders council.
