Nigerian singer, Oladokun Abimbola Elijah, professionally known as Bayanni, has stated that Argentine footballer, Lionel Messi didn’t deserve the 2023 men’s Ballon d’Or award.
In a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, Bayanni said the Inter Miami player didn’t do enough to win the award, insisting that a lot of other players have won the World Cup in the past and weren’t handed the Ballon d’Or on that basis.
“Based on what I’ve been hearing from people, Messi won the Ballon d’Or because he won the World Cup. But many people collected World Cup trophies in the past and they didn’t win the Ballon d’Or.
“What I’m saying is that it should have been Haaland or somebody else but not Messi.” Bayanni said.
