Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, has charged Airtel Nigeria to go an extra mile to deliver 4G networks to all nooks and corners of the country for Nigerian consumers to experience high-quality service.
He made the appeal during the official launch of Airtel 4G to Abuja consumers at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The Minister urged Airtel to sustained the giant strides, simplify the process of connecting 4G network and give specific offers that will delight all telecoms consumers regardless of their income level and social status.
He said this development would align with the Federal Government’s plan of empowering Nigerians and democratizing mobile broadband by making it affordable to all.
In his words, “4G comes with a lot of opportunities – it allows for improved browsing and online experience; better performance of Multimedia apps; Enhanced Voice and HD Video Calls and compatible with existing telecoms infrastructure. Without a doubt, 4G will improve productivity and help drive economic opportunities in across Abuja.”
Barrister Shittu urged Nigerians to continue to patronise and pray for the success of the Telecom and ICT sector and for sustainable peace in the country.
He added that Nigerians should always avail themselves of the multiple opportunities offered by networks and service providers in Nigeria, all of whom are willing and ready, in line with international best practices, to provide quality service.
The Minister pointed out that where the process of providing quality service failed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has provided opportunities for reporting unresolved complaints.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Airtel, Mr. Olusegun Ogunsanya, said that his company is modernizing network in all cities in Nigeria by replacing the old equipment with a new one and by the end of this year Airtel will have the widest coverage in the country.
He thanked Federal Government for the cooperation and support in granting a right of way adding that the Ministry of Communications and its agencies have shown commitment and transparency in dealing with Airtel.
