Peter Obi has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of gross corruption over an alleged ₦8.83 trillion expenditure not captured in the 2025 budget.
The former presidential candidate made the allegation in a statement shared on his X account on Sunday.
Obi said the claim was based on findings contained in an IMF consultation report.
According to him, the expenditure was not appropriated by the National Assembly and was outside legislative oversight.
He described the alleged omission as alarming and a serious breach of public financial accountability.
Obi noted that the ₦8.83 trillion represents about two per cent of Nigeria’s GDP and a significant share of the 2025 capital budget.
He argued that the funds could have been used to improve education, healthcare, infrastructure and job creation.
The former Anambra governor also accused the administration of financial mismanagement, incompetence and insensitivity.
Obi urged Nigerians to continue demanding accountability through lawful and democratic means.
