During the Coroner Inquest held at Ikorodu, Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of the late singer IleriOluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, provided her testimony, recalling the final moments of her husband’s life.

According to Mohbad’s widow, he had already passed away before the official declaration of his death on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in the afternoon. She attributed his demise to previous incidents of bullying, psychological trauma, and an arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

In her account, Omowunmi revealed that before his passing, Mohbad had taken a shower but was feeling unwell. Consequently, he requested that the air conditioner in his room be turned on. However, upon discovering that the AC was not functioning, they hurriedly relocated him to their son’s room.

During this time, Omowunmi was occupied in the kitchen. Upon emerging from the kitchen, she witnessed the nurse administering an injection to Mohbad. She also overheard him requesting the removal of the syringe.

Subsequently, it became necessary to urgently transport him to the hospital, as stated by Mohbad’s widow during her testimony before the coroner.

Omowunmi provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the death of the late Singer, Mohmad. She stated that Mohmad was in the back seat of the car when the driver mentioned that his hands were already cold. Immediately, she called Mohmad’s friend, OG, who arrived on a motorcycle. Mohmad got on the bike with OG, while Omowunmi took another bike and they headed straight to the hospital. Upon arrival, Omowunmi was informed by the doctor, nurses, the Disc Jokey, and Mohmad’s brother that he had passed away. However, Omowunmi was in disbelief as she had spoken to him just 20 minutes prior and he had mentioned taking his son for a photo shoot after his injection.

In her statement, Omowunmi said the late Singer, Mohmad was in the back seat of the car when the driver said his hands were already cold.

“Immediately I called a bike (motorcycle), OG, his friend, and Mohbad entered the bike, then I took another bike and went straight to the hospital.”

Omowunmi also shared that before his death, they had attended a show with about 10 people on Monday, September 11, 2023. During the show, Mohmad had performed and afterwards, he complained of being tired and wanting to go home. However, they were asked to wait for other artists to finish their performances, which took an hour.

Regarding the fight that broke out in the car, Omowunmi explained that Mohmad had argued with his younger brother and his friend, Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Prime Boy, had intervened. Prime Boy had stated that Mohmad’s younger brother couldn’t disrespect him, which led to a physical altercation between Prime Boy and Mohmad. Omowunmi had gone to get Mohmad’s workers to separate them and when she returned, the fight had already been broken up. During the fight, Mohmad had sustained a minor injury to his elbow when he hit the car window.

Omowunmi also mentioned that Mohmad had been fearful of going to the hospital after an incident with the NDLEA on February 22, 2022, where he had been hit on the head with a gun. The nurse who had injected Mohmad had been treating him for two years and had injected him on his shoulder.

In her words, the widow said “Prime Boy said he knew what he would have done, but Mohbad told Prime Boy that it was because they were outside and that if they were at home, he would have fought his brother.

“Prime Boy and Mohbad started fighting and I went to get his workers to come and separate them and by the time I came back, I met that people had separated them already.

“During the fight, Mohbad sustained a minor injury at his elbow when he hit the window of the car. The nurse who injected Mohbad has been treating him for two years.

“The nurse injected Mohbad on his shoulder. After the February 22, 2022, NDLEA incident, Mohbad became fearful and refused to go to the hospital because his head was hit with a gun, by NDLEA.

“I was beaten and pushed inside the gutter because I confronted and questioned the NDLEA why they harassed my husband. He was given substance by the NDLEA ever since then he has not been himself.”

She also told the coroner that after the NDLEA attack, he got paranoid he lost his memory up to the extent of forgetting his phone password.
