… vows to overhaul healthcare in Anambra State

Raph Udeh

Top PDP aspirant and foremost pain Doctor in the world, Dr. Godwin Maduka has continued to make a shocking revelation about the substandard quality of medication administered on patients in Nigeria with the caution that if this trend continued unabated, common and treatable diseases will continue to become fatal.

He lamented that the COVID 19 pandemic exposed the gross inadequacy of modern medical equipment available in our hospitals, basic equipment like oxygen plants etc.

Dr. Godwin Maduka stated this at interactive sessions with delegates in 14 LGAs of Anambra on how best to position the party for victory during the forthcoming Anambra Governorship election slated for 6th November , 2021.

He charged party faithful, particularly delegates to make the right decision and selection during primaries, a candidate who not only understands the deplorable situation of things but has the capacity and the will power to rescue Anambra from the brink, restore her glory and set her on the road to unparalleled development should be elected.

He reiterated his resolve to change the narratives in the healthcare sector by driving the kind of reforms that will attract critical players in the sector from all over the world. He reminded the delegates that a sound and robust health sector is a precursor to an economically vibrant state, for health is wealth. He assured delegates that he was the only candidate with global network and the concomitant will to change the face of Anambra State and make it a poster child for innovations and performance.

He recounted how recently he took some of the medicines produced in Nigeria to his lab in the US and discovered that most of the active ingredients were not in their right proportion, thereby affecting their efficacy.

Dr Maduka stated that part of his mission in Anambra is to make the state a hub for medical tourism and a top investment destination in Nigeria.

According to him, “Changing the narrative in the healthcare sector is easy because this is our natural habitat. We have done it in the US with our six hospitals there. Without sounding boastful , I’m one of the critical players in American health sector. You have seen with your eyes too, what I’m trying to do in healthcare sector in Nigeria with the International Medical Research Institute, Umuchukwu which will be the most sophisticated in this part of the world with the kind of state of the art medical equipment we want to install. You can also attest to our resolve and our capacity by what we have done with Trinity International hospital Umuchukwu and the caliber of people we have sent abroad for training and all of these are done in my private capacity and personal resources. Imagine how much more we can achieve when we mount the saddle of leadership in the state initiating, shaping, directing and implementing governmental policies.”
