Mother’s Day Splendor at Yaba Baptist Church: Celebrating Peace Seekers with Unmatched Fervor! Yaba, Lagos – May 12, 2024: Culled by Dr Kehinde Orolu
The ambience at Yaba Baptist Church was nothing short of spectacular as congregants gathered to honour Mother’s Day in a celebration filled with joy, gratitude, and inspiration. Organized by the Women Missionary Union (WMU), this year’s theme, *“Mothers as Peace Seekers,”* based on Hebrews 12:14, resonated powerfully throughout the event, highlighting the pivotal role of mothers in fostering peace within families and communities.
The service was marked with a vibrant tapestry of faith and appreciation.
The young voices filled the sanctuary as the Sunbeam Band and Girls Auxiliary delivered moving recitations of passages of peace from the Bible, reminding everyone of the crucial role mothers play in fostering a harmonious environment. One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was the performance by the women’s choir.
This unique ensemble, featuring regular choir members, former choir members, and even those who had never sung in the choir before, included some of the church’s very elderly women.
Their harmonious voices and heartfelt ministration left the audience in awe and filled the church with a sense of joyful unity. The highlight of the celebration was the sermon delivered by Pastor Mrs. Toyosi Aremu, the wife of the Church Pastor.
Her powerful message urged women to be relentless in their pursuit of peace, to practice restraint with their tongues, to trust fully in God, and to cultivate harmonious relationships. Her words struck a chord with all present, leaving a lasting impression.
The celebration didn’t stop there! Mrs. Grace Tayo-Mayaki, the WMU president, expressed profound gratitude to God and the church for their unwavering support.
In a remarkable display of generosity, the WMU presented the church with a plethora of gifts: seven units of 26-inch Ox standing industrial fans, a Yamaha PSR E473 Keyboard with a stand for the Children’s Church, a donation of N200,000 to the Teenagers Ministry, and N250,000 to the Church Clinic.
In addition, all married women in the church received worthy gifts, recognizing their dedication and contributions.
The spirit of fellowship continued as Bro. Akin Fajobi, Chairman of the Men’s Missionary Union, extended warm greetings and congratulations to the women on behalf of all the men.
The Youth President, Bro. Kehinde Ajayi, echoed the sentiment, solidifying the strong bonds within the Yaba Baptist Church family.
The climax of the event was the cutting of the Mother’s Day cakes, a joyous occasion shared by past WMU presidents, other selected elderly women, and the officiating ministers.
The day culminated in a special heartfelt prayer for all the mothers, led by the church pastor, Rev. Dr. Bayo Sola Aremu. He prayed for the continued well-being and strength of all the mothers.
The 2024 Mother’s Day celebration at Yaba Baptist Church was not just an event; it was a testament to the enduring spirit and invaluable role of mothers as peace seekers, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who attended.
