However, If Mother’s Day fills you with grief, you are excused from celebrating. No holiday other than Christmas is as shadowed by more looming sadness than Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day is a Hallmark holiday. Everyone in the world knows that every mom deserves a break from time to time, they have really put in lots efforts into family and particularly, children affairs.
In Nigeria, Grammy award-winning singer, Burna boy reportedly gifted his mother with a brand new Mercedes Benz Maybach in celebration of International Mother’s Day.
Many reactions have resulted with regards to this huge gesture by the Afrobeats artiste. With many tagging him a ‘Momnys boy’ or a ‘boastful person’, it is however interesting to note that Burna Boy’s mother has had a huge positive influence on his music career, being part of his team, she has somehow graciously impacted in his career success.
The Grammy winner has always recognized the role of his Mother in his success and life generally.
It is now evident that most wouldn’t understand what it’s like to be a mother because motherhood today — with our partners, with our parents, with our children, and with political regimes that cynically degrade and exploit mothering itself.

A Mother’s love is what I call Elite love. Mothering transcends the biological. Rather than stress or undue pressure, they need care and attention.
I don’t believe in a fixed definition for a “good mother.” Doesn’t it depend a lot on who a kid is and what they need? But I do believe there is something universal about being a good friend. It has to do with freely given care and acceptance. So go ahead and “spoil Mom” or whatever, take her to brunch, buy her a candle because most Mothers are good friends.
