The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has accused Adeleke University of allegedly compelling Muslim students to attend church programmes and disrupting their religious activities on campus.
In a petition addressed to the National Universities Commission (NUC), MURIC reported that Tarawih prayers, special night prayers observed during Ramadan were disrupted two days ago, with students warned never to attempt holding them again.
The Islamic advocacy group condemned the alleged actions, describing them as an infringement on religious freedom and a violation of students’ constitutional rights.
MURIC has called on the NUC to investigate the matter and ensure that Muslim students at Adeleke University can freely practice their faith without coercion or intimidation.
Meanwhile, the university administration has not issued an official response to the allegations.
