
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar, has disclosed that the Nigeria Air Force is set to significantly expand its aerial fleet with the acquisition of 49 state-of-the-art aircraft by the end of 2026.
Speaking at the opening of the 2025 Aircraft Engineering Conference held at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.
According to Air Marshall Abubakar, the expected additions including three CASA 295 Transport Aircraft 10 AW -109 Trekker Type B helicopters 12AH-12 Attack helicopters and 24M -346 Fighter Aircraft, all of which are high-tech platforms requiring advanced and sophisticated maintenance procedures.
This upcoming acquisition comes on the back of the delivery of 15 brand-new Aircraft in the last two years.
Additionally, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar stated that significant investments have been made to ensure all operable Aircraft in NAF inventory service are serviceable by the fourth quarter of 2025.
He said the NAF adopted predictive maintenance ahead of time, thereby preventing unexpected equipment failure.
The CAS further emphasized that a robust maintenance culture is essential for high serviceability rates, enabling NAF to maintain operational effectiveness and deliver sustained airpower in pursuit of national security goals.
