The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the Executive Chairman of Lafia Local Government Council, Mohammed Alhaji Haliru, over alleged involvement in the plot to impeach to the council’s Speaker.
Speaker Danladi Jatau announced the suspension during a plenary on Tuesday in Lafia, Nasarawa State after Musa Ibrahim Abubakar (APC, Doma South) moved a motion under matters of public importance.
This comes barely hours after the Legislative Arm of the Council suspended its Speaker, Mohammed Shaibu Madaki, for six months over alleged abuse of office and gross misconduct.
The Legislative Arm also constituted a 5-man committee chaired by Lazarus Okugha (APC, Assakio) to investigate the allegations levelled against the suspended Speaker.
