Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has inaugurated the Nasarawa State Emblem Development Committee, charged with the responsibility of designing and developing an independent coat of arm, to showcase the economy, culture and traditions of the people of the state.
Engineer Sule inaugurated the committee, at a ceremony at the Government House Lafia.
According to the Governor, the committee which has 5 weeks to carry out its assignment, will also design and develop an independent flag and motto, to serve as a symbol of identity and also complement the coat of arm of the state.
Engineer Sule said under the federal system of government, component states are allowed to have their own flag, coat of arm and anthem.
While noting that several states of the federation have already adopted their own independent emblem, as a symbol of their identification, Nasarawa State is yet to adopt her own.
“The general objective is to protect and project the economy, culture and traditions of the people of the state, as a symbol of identity,” he stated.
