The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has denied reports that it has withdrawn from the planned nationwide protest against certain government policies and the general hardship in the country.
In a statement signed by its National President, Joe Ajaero, the NLC clarified that only the organizers of he protest can decide whether to proceed or withdraw from the demostration.
Ajaero emphasized that the NLC has its own internal mechanisms for deciding an Industrial actions, including protests, and that these mechanisms ensure careful consideration before any action is undertaken.
Although the NLC Is not organizing the protest, Ajaero stated that the Labour Union is fully aware of the harsh living conditions and economic realities Nigerians are enduring due to the policies of the current administration.
He affirmed the NLC’s solidarity with the Nigerian people during these challenging times.
The NLC President Ajaeurged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors to engage in dialogue with the protest leaders to address their demands.
He cautioned that responding to the protest with brute force would be counter productive.
Ajaero concluded by reiterating the NLC commitment to standing with the Nigerian people and advocating for improved living conditions and fair policies.
