The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dissociated itself from the purported announcement of an “OK Movement Presidential Campaign Council”.
In a statement by the National Chairman of the party, Senator Moses Cleopas, the NDC described the party as a serious organisation and warned members against any act of insubordination.
“The party hereby dissociates itself in totality from the said OK Movement PCC announcement. It did not emanate from the party and should be disregarded by the public and the media,” Cleopas said.
The National Chairman also reminded all candidates of the party that they were contesting elections under the platform of the NDC and not as independent candidates.
“All candidates of the party must appreciate that they are not running as independent candidates.
“They are products of the party and remain subject to the authority and discipline of the party,” he said.
Cleopas further stated that only the leadership of the party had the authority to constitute and announce a Presidential Campaign Council.
“Therefore, only the party’s leadership can constitute and announce a Presidential Campaign Council (PCC),” he added.
