… Seeks Govt’s urgent attention

In their quest to ensure their agitation gets to the appropriate quarters, the Nekede Federated Union NFU comprising of (Umuoma, Umudibia & Umualum) on monday 2nd November 2020 paid a visit to the member representing owerri -west in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi (Dele) “Egbe eji eje ogu ” at his assembly complex.
Release from his media aide, Ikenna Emejuobi revealed that the powerful delegation which was led by the Traditional Prime Minister of Umuoma Autonomous Community and the Vice President representing Umuoma in Nekede Federated Union, Nze Chris Obinna Aharanwa Ksc and President General Emeritus of Nekede Ancient Kingdom and the Director of Information Nekede Federated Union, Comrade Chidi Young Uneze had the representatives of the women and also the SUG President of Federal Polytechnic Nekede who represented the students.
Appealing to the State Lawmaker to take their matter to the State Government for immediate attention, the Spokesman of the Union, Nze Obinna Aharanwa who first congratulated His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma (Onwa Oyoko) and Hon Kanayo Dele Onyemaechi (Egbe) on their election victories as the Governor of Imo State and member State House of Assembly respectively stated that they have not come to challenge the opinion of the government but rather have come to find a lasting solution to their dilapidated road condition which has turned nightmare for the people.
The Retired Permanent Secretary who described Nekede as a Community that has significant impact on the state economy deserves government’s urgent attention as he used the medium to passionately solicit financial support from Hon Onyemaechi for the rehabilitation of their dilapidated bridge (Mmiri Nkwo Ahia).
Further speaking, Dr. Mrs Ijeoma Oparanozie the President Nekede Ancient Kingdom Women Association (Umualum) who spoke on behalf of the women maintained that the ugly situation of the road triggered the protest decision by the women to go to naked but pleaded that dialogue remains the best way out. She applauded the Lawmaker for his love and commitment towards a better Owerri -West since his emergence as the member representing Owerri -West State Constituency while reassuring of their resolve to appreciate him once work commences on that road.
The student Union Government (SUG) President of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Comr. Ezeh Chukwu Ebuka who spoke on behalf of the students of his Institution frowned at the nightmare the road has gradually become. According to him, his students are no longer safe plying the road because of the security challenges witnessed . The student Leader who pledged their unalloyed support to the shared prosperity administration of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma pleaded that state of emergency be declared on that road immediately to gain the love of the students.
Mrs. Ijeoma Azuike( The Women’s President Umuoma Autonomous Community) , Sir Phil Manu, Elder Tony Ajoku(Tacco) and renowned journalist, Comr Princely Onyenwe all thanked the Lawmaker for his audience describing him as a material that Owerri -West should be proud of and urged him to ensure their request is given urgent attention.
Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi while responding thanked the Nekede Federated Union for the visit which showed respect and love for His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma the Governor of Imo State and him. He reiterated his love for Nekede considering the massive support they accorded him during his election and promised not to let them down.
“Egbe eji eje ogu ” frowned at the negligence meted on the host communities by Federal Polytechnic Nekede and FUTO which has contributed to some of the challenges experienced.
The outspoken Oforola born Lawmaker stated that social corporate responsibilities have absolutely been neglected by the Institutions but assured them that collectively, the two Federal Institutions will be called to rise up to the occasion. He urged the good people of Nekede to continue exercising patience as work will soon commence on not only the popular Naze/Nekede/Ihuagwa/Obinze road but also the West End/Nekede/Police Training School road immediately dry season sets in.
On their dilapidated (Mmiri Nkwo Ahia ) bridge, Egbe quickly took steps towards addressing it by ensuring adequate attention is channeled to facilitate the work.
