The women of UMUEZEROKAM NEKEDE in ow west local government area of Imo state Nigeria, this morning rose in their numbers to protest against the devastating erosion menace bedevilling the community.
9News Nigeria reports that the protest is peaceful as we have seen it only that the leadership of the community and the Government of Imo state was said to have forgotten Development of rural communities just like Umuoma Nekede.
This has led to the women trooping out en masse to ask the Government to come to their rescue.
The women have also ask the leadership of the Umuezerokam Nekede Community to grant them their statutory rights and accrued previleges as women group.
This previleges as requested by the women include levy from the dredging companies to at least be giving the women one trip of sand on weekly basis, development grant from the community proceed among others.
According to the women, “the trip is sand gotten from from the dredgers and there agents can be utilized to check the erosion. The women can also transmute the sand to monetary value to develop the town.
In the video one can easily confirm that the women are not asking for more but because of the negligence of Government to assist rural communities, they have therefore made this open request for the world to come to their aid.
The press however gathered that the parent body in the Umuezerokam Nekede have ignored the previous collective efforts of these women to develop their town.
The press have gathered that this Umuezerokam Nekede Community is next to Owerri municipality from the ancient Nekede kingdom.
The same thing is applicable to other organs of Nekede Communities where bad roads, dredging companies degradation, crime and underdevelopment have taken the order of the day.

While speaking with some Community leaders, they have Confirmed the plights of their Women as a basic right to the women.
At the course of this investigation, the press also put calls across the president general of Umuoma Nekede, honorable Uchenna Nwaneri who said that the women are right in their request. The PG however promise to take their request to the on Government for Immediate approval.
This is so degrading of a Government that have the overall interest of the people at heart and therefore need to be adressed headeon.
The monarch of Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community HRH Eze Morrison Eke PhD, at a point of call to abreast him of this development called on the women to stand firm on their demand while their request will be communicated to the reliable agencies of Government to help Umuezerokam Nekede.
The protest was peaceful and the women have made themselves clear on the video attached HEREIN.
