This Morning at the Rotibi office of the newspaper vendor’s circulation/ collection point located along Douglas road owerri was surrendered by a police patrol team and five vendors were arrested and taken away to an unknown destination.

This has caused a cold trauma to Journalists and media houses in Imo state as clampdown on Newspaper vendors has continued.

Our source told 9News Nigeria that police team this morning arrested five Newspaper vendors/ distribution agents, at Rotobi street, Douglas Road, Owerri, Imo state.

Information reveals that the vendors are allegedly IPOB newspaper vendors but the New telegraph vendor was also involved.

The actual reason is yet to be known while Journalists plead the state government to please come to their rescue and release them.

Meanwhile, the whereabout of NEW TELEGRAPH’S sales rep still unknown as FOUR more vendors have been arrested by ‘unknown security team’

The security team doing the operation are merely abducting people. They do not leave any message and nobody gets to know who made the arrest or why the vendors and distributors were arrested.

Speaking with New Telegraph in Owerri 9 News was told that their Sales rep has been held for 6 days now.

Steve said he has searched everywhere in the Police without seeing his sales rep and today, he hinted that he will proceed to the DSS.

Clamping down on the press in Imo will not be the best but Newspaper houses and media practitioners must also learn to do their professional work inline with the guiding ethics.

9News Nigeria together with other Journalists all over the world are therefore calling for their safety and immediate release.

The governor of Imo state his Excellency Hope Uzodinma is a listening personality who has the interest of the media at heart and hopefully the vendors will regain their freedom.
