Nigeria Absent as Africa’s Best-Governed Nations Emerge

Nigeria

The 2024 Ibrahim Index of African Governance has ranked Seychelles, Mauritius, and Cape Verde as Africa’s best-governed countries, reflecting high standards in transparency, economic management, and citizen welfare.

Other nations on the list include South Africa, Botswana, and Ghana.

However, Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy and most populous nation, did not make the top ten.

This omission raises questions about governance challenges, such as corruption, insecurity, and inadequate infrastructure, which continue to undermine the nation’s development potential.

Observers and public affairs analysts urge Nigerian leaders to prioritize reforms to enhance governance and improve citizen wellbeing.
