Former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has warned that Nigeria’s future could be in serious jeopardy if the All Progressives Congress ( APC) is reelected in 2027 general elections.
He called on Nigerians to unite and remove the ruling party from power.
Speaking during meetings with political stakeholders, youth groups , and women in Sokoto State on Saturday, El-Rufai said the country is at a critical turning point.
“We are at a critical juncture in our nation’s history. It’s essential that we act together to rescue Nigeria from failed leadership and poor governance”, he stated.
The event were part of a broader grassroots mobilization campaign to gather support for opposition coalition.
El-Rufai describes the APC as incompetent and divisive, warning that its continued rule threatens the unity and stability of the nation.
“If we allow this APC government to continue beyond 2027, what remains of Nigeria’s social fabric may be completely destroyed. This is the fight of our lives”, he declared.
He stressed that his involvement in the opposition movement is driven by a sense of duty, not personal ambition.
“I didn’t enter politics to enriched myself but to serve, and when a government stops serving the people, it becomes my responsibility – as a senior citizen – to speak out and take action”, El-Rufai said.
He highlighted the adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform for the opposition coalition in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the move aims to unite Nigerians behind a credible alternative focused on national interest over personal gain.
Abubakar Gana, a key opposition leader in Sokoto, echoed El -Rufai’s remarks and affirmed the coalition’s commitment to providing effective and responsible leadership both at the Sate and Federal levels.
