The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of two suspected militant leaders of the Otugas Fire Force, Mr. Gabriel Ogbudje, as well as the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), Mr. Isaac Romeo.
This followed the arrest of a suspected Boko Haram commander in Yobe State, whose name had appeared on the Army’s list of wanted kingpins of the sect.
The disclosures were made in separate late Tuesday night statements by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman.
According to Usman, Ogbudje, who is alleged to be the leader of the Otugas Fire Force group said to have codenamed a parallel operation as ‘Operation Crocodile Tears’, allegedly masterminded the bombing of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC)/Shoreline major delivery trunk within Ogo-Oteri, last month.
His group was also responsible for the latest threat to attack Utorogu Gas Plant.
Like Ogbudje, the Army disclosed that Romeo, who it said is a ‘kingpin’ of the NDA, goes by the pseudonym ‘G2’.
He was apprehended by a team comprising the Army, Navy, Air Force, as well as operatives of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
