History was made on 7th November 2018, when Dallas County elected Nigerian-born Chika Anyiam to serve as a State District Court Judge. She will be the first African immigrant ever to hold such position in the history of United States of America. Though the campaign was a tough one, she worked so hard along with her husband Okey Anyiam, family, friends and her supporters.
In her appreciation letter, Chika Anyiam thanked her supporters for standing by her through out the campaign period and for casting their votes in support of her.
She also thanked her husband and family for all their sacrifices. “Thank you to my warrior husband and family for all their sacrifices“.
Chika Anyiam’s appreciation letter reads:
THANK YOU DALLAS COUNTY!!
Thank you to everyone who voted to elect me the next State District Judge of Dallas County Criminal District Court No. 7. It has been a long journey, and you stayed with me all the way. You opened your doors when I knocked, offering me cold drinks and water when you sensed that I was thirsty on the hot campaign trail, offering me hot cinnamon and a scarf in the cold winter, and supporting me in countless other ways.
Thank you to my warrior husband and family for all their sacrifices. Thank you to my super campaign manager, Jeff Dalton and his amazing team, Zachary Bullard, Chris Nguyen, Kaletha Dotson, Terri Hodge, Barbara Steele, the Dallas County Democratic Party and everyone who participated in, or helped the coordinated campaign.
I remain committed to serve the community as a fair, just and impartial judge.
