Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers

1. A coalition of Niger Delta youths on Wednesday converged in Abuja for a peaceful protest in support of the president Muhammadu Buhari Administration. The youths noted that there is no provision in the constitution for a president to be removed from office no matter the length of sickness.

2. Unknown gunmen yesterday attacked the head office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

The spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwajaren, said the gunmen left a death note for one of the anti-graft agency’s detectives.

3. The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday ruled that the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, otherwise known as Evans can proceed.

The presiding judge, Justice Abdulaziz Anka dismissed the objections of Emmanuel Eze, the counsel for the third and fourth respondents, and agreed with counsel to the kidnap kidpin, Olukoya Ogungbeje, that service on the first and second respondents had been properly effected.

4. Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday assigned portfolios to the two Ministers he swore in few weeks ago at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Osinbajo, Ocheni will resume as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour and Productivity while Suleiman Hassan would resume as Minister of State, Power, Works and Housing.

5. The Nigerian Air Force on Tuesday, sentenced Airman Kalu Bernard to death by hanging for killing his lover, Solape Oladipupo, aka Shomzy Shomxy, on March 12, 2017.

The president of the court, Group Captain Elisha Bindul, declared Kalu guilty in six out of the eight counts in his final judgement and sentenced him to death by hanging, subject to the confirmation of the conveying authority.

6. Real Madrid have failed in an attempt to have Cristiano Ronaldo’s five-match suspension overturned. Ronaldo was given the punishment, after he pushed referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea during their 3-1 win over Barcelona, in the first leg of their Super Cup clash.

7. The federal government of Nigeria has admitted that it failed to meet its part of the agreement reached with the Academic Staff Union of Universities last year, which led to the ongoing industrial action declared by the union.

However, ‎according to Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu the government was not happy that ASUU embarked on the strike without following due process by giving adequate notice.

8. No fewer than 45 of 82 victims of Tuesday’s market suicide bomb attack in Konduga, Borno State, have been transferred from the General Hospital, Konduga to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, authorities have said.

A doctor at the general hospital told newsmen that 17 people were brought in dead.

9. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has condemned the attacks on the ‘Resume or Resign’, protesters, saying it is a ‘height of dictatorship.

The governor said he was particularly angry by what he termed ‘orchestrated attack on the protesters at Wuse market, Abuja.

10. Real Madrid without star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2017 Spanish Super Cup.

Real defeated their arch rivals 2-0 as first half goals from Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema sealed a 5-1 aggregate Super Cup win.
