Nigerian Oil and Gas Forum honours trailblazers at Awards night

Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Oil and Gas Forum hosted a glittering Awards Night at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, recognizing trailblazers whose vision, dedication, and innovation continue to redefine excellence in the industry.

Now in its second edition, the prestigious event attracted industry leaders, investors, regulators, and captains of industry, all gathered to celebrate the outstanding contributions shaping Nigeria’s energy landscape.

As Nigeria continues to lead the energy sector, organizers expressed pride in recognizing the trailblazers whose achievements embody the spirit of excellence and innovation.


Delivering a welcome address, Nafisa Aliyu Haruna underscored the crucial role of the oil and gas sector in driving economic growth and tackling national challenges. She emphasized the need for continuous innovation and strategic investments to sustain the sector’s relevance.

Speaking on behalf of Engr Gbenga Komolafe (NUPRC), Dr. Kelechi Ofebu, Executive commissioner, corporate service of the Commission emphasized the crucial role of the oil and gas industry in addressing national challenges. He highlighted its impact on economic growth and development, reaffirming the importance of celebrating those driving positive change.

At the event, outstanding individuals were honored with various award categories for their significant contributions to the growth and development of the oil and gas industry, as well as other key sectors of the economy.

Among notable. awardees in attendance was the Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the Oil and Gas free Zones Authority,(OGFZA), Bamanga Jada Usman, Engr Gbenga Komolafe, Chief executive Ngerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Dr Julius D Rone (GMD) of UTM FLNG among others.

Nigeria’s Gas Revolution: A Game-Changer
Speaking at the event, Bamanga Usman, MD/CEO of OGFZA, highlighted Nigeria’s 209 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves, far surpassing its 37 billion barrels of hydrocarbon reserves. He reaffirmed natural gas as a cleaner, more sustainable energy alternative, aligning with the government’s push for investments in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiatives.

Usman further disclosed that OGFZA has secured an $8 billion foreign investment to produce 348 metric tons of green and blue hydrogen—a project poised to generate substantial foreign exchange for Nigeria while reinforcing the country’s position in the global energy transition.

A key highlight of the evening was the official launch of Energy Express Magazine, a new publication dedicated to spotlighting the achievements of regulators, industry players, and investors in the oil and gas sector.

Speaking during the unveiling, Dr. Julius D. Rone (GMD, UTM FLNG) emphasized that Energy Express Magazine will serve as a powerful platform to showcase and celebrate the achievements of individuals who have excelled in the oil and gas industry.

Sponsors and Participants who spoke, stressed the importance of the sector as well as the need for diversification, urging stakeholders to explore opportunities in real estate and other non-oil sectors as global energy demands shift.

Adding to the excitement, a lucky guest walked away with a plot of land, won through a raffle draw courtesy of the event organizers.

The night also featured thrilling performances, including music, dance, and comedy, creating a vibrant atmosphere for attendees.

The Future of Nigeria’s Energy Sector
Industry experts and stakeholders at the event emphasized the need for continued investment in the oil and gas sector, calling for policy reforms, infrastructure development, and value-added initiatives to sustain growth and global competitiveness.

The Nigerian Oil and Gas Awards Night once again reinforced its status as a platform for recognition, innovation, and strategic collaboration, setting the tone for a brighter, more sustainable future in Nigeria’s energy sector.
