Charles Awuzie, the founder and CEO of Gemsbok Group, has suggested an idea of creating a new reality television show called ‘Big Brain Naija’, in response to his disappointment with the contemporary popular show, Big Brother Naija.
Awuzie recently stressed his disappointment regarding a viral video showing BBNaija housemates struggling with basic questions about current and national issues, deeming it a national embarrassment.
He believes that BBNaija promotes emptiness and aims to offer a counter-reality show that would entertain and also promote intellectualism, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
“After watching the video, I simply registered the domain ‘BigBrainNaija dot com’ as an intellectual alternative to Big Brother Naija,” he stated.
Following the submission, Awuzie has received numerous messages regarding partnership and sponsorship for the new show.
According to him, the concept of Big Brain Naija involves bringing together the most intelligent minds in Nigeria for about 50 days, during which they must work together to develop innovative solutions for problems in their community.
The winner of Big Brain Naija would receive N50 million to further develop their solution into a business venture. The show is planned to be streamed on major media platforms in the country, with the aim of inspiring younger generations to embrace intellectual pursuits.
Awuzie has instructed his team to work on the branding and website for Big Brain Naija with the goal of having them ready within two weeks.
