A Nigerian woman, Habbat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, has launched an ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by reading the Bible continuously for 144 hours without stopping.
The challenge, tagged “144 Hours in the Word,” commenced on June 22, 2026, at the Novotal Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and is expected to conclude on July 2, in accordance with Guinness World Records regulations.
By Saturday, Habibat had successfully completed more than 100 hours of the marathon, moving into the final stretch of the record attempt. Supporters have continued to rally behind her, with videos showing her reading the Scriptures aloud as they offer encouragement.
A member of The Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt, Habibat said the record attempt is not only about breaking a world record but also about inspiring people around the world to cultivate, inspire deeper spiritual devotion, consistent Bible devotion and growing closer to God.
