Nigerians don’t need a President with walking stick again – Abdulsalami Abubakar

Nigeria’s Former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar has called on youths in the country to make true their ambitions to lead the country, as the days of recycling old men to preside over the affairs of Nigeria are over.

The Ex military Head of State through whom Nigeria transited into Democracy in 1999 said, the country don’t need leaders with walking stick again. Hence, the old men club should leave the scene and give space and opportunity for Nigerians of the younger generation to govern the country.

General Abubakar Rtd handed down this advice in his country home in Minna Niger State when a Presidential hopeful, Prince Adewale Adebayo consulted him ahead of the 2023 general election.

The Ex-Military leader reasoned that governance has gone digital now compared to their time, noting that the younger ones who understands the times, would better the lots of our society than the elderly whose mindset is not compatible with the current realities.

According to him, it was a good development that youngsters were already interested in the Presidency, given the high number of those declaring their ambitions to run for the office, adding that they would surely takeover from the elderly ones.
