Minister of Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said that Nigerians are now enjoying constant power supply.
9news Nigeria gathered that Fashola, a former Lagos State Governor, said this on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to him, some parts of the country like Kebbi and Yobe have a constant power supply.
He noted that the power distribution companies in those areas reported their consumers as saying that they do not need 24/7 power supply due to the high billing.
Fashola spoke to Channels TV Sunrise Daily monitored by 9news Nigeria where he noted that Nigerians should expect an improved power supply before the end of the President Muhammadu Buhari government in 2023.
Although, he said the country has a long way to go before it achieves constant power supply.
On the dispute between the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and distribution companies (Discos) over metering of consumers, he said both parties know what to do.
This is as he added that the NERC is the referee in the power sector and should know whose duty it is to provide meters for consumers.
Also, he revealed that the Federal Government is already issuing licenses to companies to produce, and supply meters to electricity consumers in the country.
