The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has expressed doubts about the possibility of the state-owned PortHarcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries functioning again.
Dangote revealed that despite the refineries gulping up to $18 billion, they have still failed to work.
Speaking after a tour of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Lagos, Dangote noted that his own refinery, with a capacity of 650,000, is producing over 50 percent of it output as Premium Motor Spirit, a stark contrast to the government refineries which only committed 22 percent of their production to petrol.
Dangote likened the attempt to revive the refineries to trying to modernize a car built 40 years ago, saying technology has advanced too far for such efforts to be effective.
