The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the launch of its new NIS Mobile app, now available on the Google Play Store.
Designed to streamline passport application processes, the app offers a contactless experience, marking a significant step forward in the agency’s digital transformation efforts.
Currently, the app is geo-fenced and accessible only to Nigerians residing in Canada and the United States.
However, the NIS has confirmed that the platform will be available for worldwide use starting December 1, 2024.
Speaking on the launch, the NIS emphasized the app’s goal of enhancing convenience and efficiency for Nigerians abroad.
“The NIS Mobile app is part of our ongoing commitment to leveraging technology to improve service delivery,” the agency noted in a statement.
The app allows users to complete their passport applications without visiting an immigration office, reducing processing times and eliminating geographical barriers.
With the increasing demand for passport services among the Nigerian diaspora, the NIS Mobile app is expected to ease application challenges and enhance user satisfaction.
The December expansion will bring the app’s capabilities to a global audience, reinforcing the NIS’s mission to make passport services more accessible to Nigerians worldwide.
