Nnamani advises Southeast on Nigerian politics

The former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, has advised the people of South-East to understand the dynamics of Nigeria politics in order to step up economic activities.

Nnamani made the statement on Saturday when he addressed the members of All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders meeting at Imo International Convention Centre, Owerri.

The meeting was attended by who is who in APC from the five south-eastern states of Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Enugu, and Imo.

The meeting was hosted Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo state to welcome political bigwigs who recently joined the APC.

The former senate president explained that the greatest undoing of the South-East was inability to understand the linkage between Nigeria politics and economic distribution in the nation.

Nnamani, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for APC, said it was for his understanding of the dynamics of Nigeria politics that made him to defect to the new party.

“Yes I left PDP for APC, my advice is that other Igbo people who know they have a role to play for the advancement of the zone should to come over, otherwise remain where you are.

“My understanding of politics is that people should join parties where they can maximize their political opportunities, ” he said.

Nnamani advised the people not to condemn anybody because of his or her political choice, saying “it is wrong for all of us to put our eggs in one basket’’.

Okorocha, in his address, said he was happy that the people of South-East have finally discovered the wisdom of his political affiliation with the APC.

“ Before the 2015 general election, I was called all sorts of names because I was in APC, but today the story has changed.

“If a lot of people from our zone had reasoned with me, all that eluded the zone in the political sharing of this administration would not have eluded the South-East’’, he said.

Okorocha told those joining APC now not to come with confused mind set, and advised that “rather than join with the intention to cause confusion, it is better look for a political party that is not so much known and test your popularity there’’. (NAN)
